Dear Readers,
As we near the end of another year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and express my deepest gratitude. What started as a humble blog has grown into a thriving community. Thanks to you, our regular visitors and supporters, we’ve seen incredible growth and even recognition from university departments and optometric learning sites across the world. It’s truly heartwarming to know that the content here is making a positive impact.
To everyone who sent messages of support or thanks throughout the year, you are the driving force behind my motivation. Hearing how this blog has helped you grasp tricky concepts, build confidence to ask questions at work, or tackle topics like burnout, which are often left unspoken, is incredibly rewarding.
A special thank you to those who purchased “History and Symptoms: The Eye Examination” and left reviews on Amazon. Your support not only affirms my efforts but also helps cover the costs of keeping the majority of content on The Eye Care Advocate free for all. I am still amazed that I have released a book and that the content is helping students and pre-registration optometrists become effective history-takers. Thank you for trusting in me!
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to return refreshed and ready. I plan to continue writing relevant posts and guides, whilst reviving the YouTube channel with more engaging content, starting with a new video on the History of Optometry (which is available to watch now – so get some popcorn ready!)
The blog will continue to explore diverse topics, from refractive surgery to keratometry, and offer advice on university life and pre-registration. We’ll also highlight various awareness events and their link to eye care, along with a series on the milestones that have shaped the optometry profession. There may even be another book release…so watch this space!
Thank you for being part of this journey. Please consider subscribing to the mailing list below and following me on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X. Together, let’s continue to advocate for great eye care in the coming year.
Cheers to a wonderful 2025!
